Christmas Eve The pastry shop is busy making cakes, Kochi December 24, 11:33

On the 24th of Christmas Eve, a long-established confectionery store in Kochi is busy making cakes in the morning.

In a long-established confectionery store that has been running for over 50 years in a shopping district in the center of Kochi City, 10 people, including employees and part-timers, are making Christmas cakes at 7 am on the 24th.

The bunbo at the back of the shop was wrapped in a sweet fragrance, and the craftsman applied the cream on the sponge skillfully.

Finished with strawberries and sweets in the shape of Santa Claus from Kochi Prefecture, they were lined up in stores and visitors were immediately buying them.

The confectionery shop is planning to sell about 400 Christmas cakes a day on the 24th, which means that sales are expected to be about 10 times higher than usual.

On the other hand, the number of people surrounding cakes is decreasing at home due to the declining birth rate and aging population, which means that they sell more small-sized cakes than they did 10 years ago.

"The cake size has become smaller than in the past, but I want you to enjoy it with your family and friends," said Masashi Mizuta, president of a confectionery shop.
