Theft of a painting by Kuindzhi from the Tretyakov Gallery

The outgoing 2019 year began with a scandal in the museum sphere: on January 27, an unknown person entered the exhibition hall of the Tretyakov Gallery, took a picture of Arkhip Kuindzhi from the wall, took it out of the frame and freely left the floor. The canvas was found a few hours later at the construction site in the Odintsovo district.

Denis Chuprikov, a 31-year-old resident of the Moscow Region, was already under house arrest as a person involved in a criminal case involving a drug. Chuprikov repented of his deed, and explained his deed by the fact that he wanted to draw attention to himself. The kidnapper was sentenced to three years in prison.

After what happened, the museum rushed in with a check. According to its results, a reprimand was announced to the Director of the Tretyakov Gallery Zelfira Tregulova. In addition, the Ministry of Culture recommended the management of the museum to apply disciplinary sanctions against certain employees.

By the way, soon another incident occurred in the Tretyakov Gallery: Moscow artist Artyom Gavrilyuk-Bozhko walked through the museum halls in a half-naked form, and his colleagues left several new exhibits in the gallery. The artist emphasized that in this way he also wanted to draw public attention - not just to himself, but to the problems of contemporary art.

Suspension Friends from “What?” Where? When?"

In February, Channel One suspended the master of the game “What? Where? When? ”Alexander Druz and editor of the TV show“ Who wants to become a millionaire? ”Ilya Bera from working on these programs due to mutual bribery charges.

Behr brought the conflict to the public plane: he said that Druz before the broadcast, “Who wants to become a millionaire?” Was trying to get a list of questions prepared for him. It was expected that in return the connoisseur would share his winnings with the editor. Druz, in turn, said that the initiator of the transaction was Ber, and he only wanted to play along with the interlocutor. However, the First Channel, apparently, did not satisfy either of these explanations.

Only in September did it become known that Druz received the right to return to the Club of Experts. The decision to rehabilitate the master was facilitated by time - several months passed after the scandal - and the fact that the expert apologized for his act.

Eurovision scandals

In the past year, Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest was represented by Sergey Lazarev. In February, when the name of the contestant only became known, many opposed Lazarev's candidacy: both professional critics and ordinary people did not like the singer to go to Eurovision for the second time. But the artist nevertheless performed Scream on the stage in Tel Aviv and brought his country third place.

However, a much greater resonance was caused by Kiev’s refusal to participate in the competition. First, the Ukrainian singer Maruv, who won first place in the national selection, was criticized for speaking in Russian and for being on tour in Russia. A few days later, Maruv, and after her other finalists of the national selection, for a number of reasons refused to represent Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest. Then the National Public Television and Radio Company (NOTU) decided: Kiev will not send its competitor to Tel Aviv.

In the autumn, NOTU changed the rules for participation in the national selection. Now, artists who have been giving concerts in Russia or visiting Crimea since 2014 cannot apply for Eurovision.

Hospitalization of Bari Alibasov

In June, it became known that Russian musician and producer Bari Alibasov was hospitalized in the Department of Toxic Resuscitation after mistakenly drank liquid to clean the Mole pipes. At some point, false information about the death of the producer appeared in the media.

During his stay in the hospital, Alibasov managed to draw up a new will, lose the cat and decide to file a lawsuit against the producer of the “Mole” (later the musician will change his mind to do this for reasons of “troubles”). After discharge, the artist took part in the filming of the show of the First channel "In fact." On the air of the program, experts tried to prove that the poisoning of Alibasov was a well-considered PR move. The producer denied their allegations.

Damage to the work of Pokras Lampas

A month later, Yekaterinburg communal workers accidentally ruined the work of modern Russian artist Pokras Lampas: the so-called Suprematist cross, the largest art object in 2019, was covered with a new layer of asphalt during the repair of the pedestrian crossing. The city hall promised to punish the guilty (the head of Yekaterinburg, Alexander Vysokinsky, specified the promise of the press service, saying that the district administration would "get the ears").

It was decided that the artist would return to the Sverdlovsk region to restore the damaged art object. However, in August, Orthodox activists held an action against the return of the original panels: they considered it unacceptable for someone to "stomp around the shrine."

Lampas' work reappeared on the First Five-Year Plan in October. True, the artist made concessions to the activists, and now the “Suprematist cross” consists of three geometric figures that do not intersect.

Health Anastasia Zavorotnyuk

At the end of summer, rumors appeared in the media about the illness and hospitalization of actress Anastasia Zavorotnyuk. For several weeks, the press produced diverse and sometimes conflicting information. Soon, close artists decided to stop the insinuations and made an official statement.

“Anastasia is really undergoing a course of treatment. At the same time, she was not in a coma, she was never connected to an artificial lung ventilation apparatus, she did not fall into a state of stupor, memory loss, altered consciousness, paralysis or complete muscle atrophy. All this is fiction. The truth is that there is a disease and there is a decisive goal to defeat it, ”it was said.

Despite the fact that relatives of Zavorotnyuk asked not to make the details of the disease publicly visible, the state of the artist has long been one of the main topics in the media. It is noteworthy that the request "Anastasia Zavorotnyuk" became the third most popular in the category "People" of the Russian segment of the Google search engine in 2019. Above in this list are only Yulia Nachalova and Decl (Cyril Tolmatsky), who suddenly died at the beginning of the year.

Demolition of the nightingale cinema

Discussions around the plans for the demolition of the Nightingale cinema center on Krasnaya Presnya in Moscow have been ongoing for a long time. Many citizens opposed the demolition - among the defenders of the legendary cinema were the Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, director Nikita Mikhalkov and other prominent figures in culture and politics. But this did not help: on December 4, the dismantling of the Nightingale began.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, in turn, urged "not to cry" over the cinema, since it should have been closed for a long time due to non-compliance with fire standards.

“Remember the story of Winter Cherry? Tragedy for the whole country. People burned the most in cinemas, from which they could not get out. Have you been to the Nightingale? Did you see what was going on there? I'm not talking about dirt and unsanitary conditions, the seats are full of holes! There, small sections were cut from large halls, from which it was impossible to run out in case of fire, ”the mayor said.
