“Electric Illuminated Eel” and “Santa Shrimp” Tropical Creatures Also Christmas Nagano December 25 4:21

A special exhibition is held in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, featuring tropical waterside creatures that have Christmas-related features, such as shrimp with a similar color to Santa Claus, during the Christmas season.

This special exhibition is held every year during the Christmas season, and displays over 30 species of creatures, including colorful fish that inhabit the tropical waters.

The Denki eel, which inhabits the Amazon River basin in South America, glowed up to 100 LED bulbs on a Christmas tree, taking advantage of the ability to generate up to 800 volts of electricity when catching food.

“Shirobosia gull”, which lives in the warm waters such as the Indian Ocean, is known as “Santa shrimp” because of its bright red body and white legs, and its hue looks like Santa Claus.

Mr. Kanai, who is in charge of the exhibition, said, "There are many beautiful creatures that can compete with Christmas illuminations, so I want many people to enjoy it."

This special exhibition will be held at "National Alps Azumino Park Horikin and Hotaka Area" until the end of next year, except the 31st of the year and the 1st of the New Year.
