PewDiePie announced in a video on its YouTube channel on Saturday that it will take a break from the platform from the beginning of 2020. The YouTuber with 102 million followers says they are tired.

"I'm taking a break from YouTube next year," said Felix Kjellberg, as the 30-year-old YouTuber is called in real life. "I wanted to tell you in advance because my decision is certain."

"I'm tired. I feel very tired. I'll explain later," PewDiePie explains his decision in part. The Swede does not yet know how long he will stay away from the platform.

PewDiePie was discredited in 2017 because he allegedly made anti-Semitic jokes in his videos. Disney and YouTube then broke their contract with the YouTuber.

PewDiePie's slogan 'Subscribe to PewDiePie' was used in March by the man who committed an attack on two mosques in New Zealand, killing fifty people. In response, PewDiePie released a video calling for the slogan not to be used anymore.
