Rod Stewart is with 74 years and eleven months the oldest male Brit ever who has achieved first place in the charts with an album. According to the BBC, the singer was able to sell more copies of his new album this week than Robbie Williams.

You're in my Heart , the new album from the Do You Think I'm Sexy singer, sold about 750 times more often than the new Christmas album from Williams.

With this, Stewart breaks the record that was previously in the name of Paul Simon. He was 74 years and eight months old when he reached number one.

Stewart is pleased to be able to write the record to his name. "A new government and a new number one for Sir Rod," the singer says. "Thanks to my many fans, whom I will never take for granted."

On his new album, which has been out since November 22, Stewart has recorded new versions of some of his biggest hits together with an orchestra.
