The actor Gerd Baltus is dead. Baltus died on Friday at the age of 87 in Hamburg. This was confirmed by his wife to the NDR and the German press agency. Baltus participated in numerous television productions, especially as a series actor he was in demand. The Hamburg resident was sometimes considered one of the busiest actors in the TV industry.

For earlier series like "Der Kommissar" or "Derrick" he was in front of the camera as well as later for "Our Teacher Doctor Specht", "Ein Bayer auf Rügen" or "Zwei Herren am Herd". He was also there several times in the "crime scene". Born in Bremen, he started his acting career at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.

For his first major film role in "Wälsungenblut", Baltus received the Federal Film Award in 1965 for best young actor. At that time he had already gained experience as an actor at various theaters between Hamburg and Munich. From the mid-1970s, he concentrated primarily on film and television. He was also in demand as a radio play announcer.
