A three-star Michelin menu may not please you. "There was a time when I felt anguish and I broke a sweat," reveals actress Najwa Nimri , protagonist of one of the deliveries of the first season of A Life, a Dinner . "It was not relevant to like, but to touch," argues Quique Dacosta , the conductor of this new docuserie that Amazon Prime Vide or premieres on December 17 and in which the chef seeks to deconstruct the lives of six celebrities with a menu designed to each one of them.

The idea of the format produced by The Mediapro Studio is to cook emotions linked to the most important vital moments of the six guests. "Everything tastes like something, things have flavor," says Dacosta in conversation with this newspaper. "And memories also know something," he insists: "A Christmas at home as a child may taste like nougat or beans, but they know something."

Under this premise, the chef uses culinary products and haute cuisine techniques to prepare dishes to connect with each guest. "The same ingredient can appear at different times representing totally different things," says the cook. Thus, caviar can refer to success, but not only that. The objective is not so much to satisfy the palate of the famous as to provoke emotions in him. And not always nice.

For example, for José María Manzanares Dacosta, he prepares a dish called Corazón de toro , with which the chef intends to transmit what the animal feels when the bullfighter crosses him with his sword. «I have never had the opportunity to talk about my profession in such a pure way», confesses Manzanares, who emphasizes that during this tasting of emotions concepts such as «inspiration, fear, responsibility or dreams» came to light.

Another of the guests to the program was Andrés Velencoso , who found himself in front of a dish named Lucía , the name of his deceased mother and who has been tattooed on his skin. "It served me to meet him in the language of longing and the bitterness of a loss, but not only from pain, but also from sweetness, affection and affection," explains the cook. "It was sweet and bitter," says the model and actor recalling the tasting. «I was thinking: how can I tell you that I don't like this? But it is that precisely what I was looking for was that, "he concludes:" I understand now. "

"What the viewer is going to see is something of ours that he has not seen other times," Najwa Nimri guarantees. "Unintentionally, you would say things you would not tell," he acknowledges while explaining the strange feeling he experienced during his recording. “It's like when they told us when we were little that we had to eat what they had put on our plate. There is some imposition that causes a kind of dead end where you find yourself bound to have to answer with some truths ».
