World Heritage Kyoto Suspicion of Graffiti at Ryoanji Temple 44-year-old company employee arrested November 25, 15:29

A 44-year-old office worker was arrested for scribbling with an oil pen on the wall of a mountain gate at Ryoanji Temple in Kyoto, a World Heritage Site.

Arrested by a self-proclaimed office worker in Yokohama, Tatsuya Onishi (44).

According to the police, Onishi was suspected of damaging the property on the afternoon of the 24th, when he wrote graffiti with an oil pen on the wall of the gate of Ryoanji Temple in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto.

The graffiti is written in three colors, such as "Gao Seiryu" and "Thankful Suzaku", which means that a nearby tourist witnessed and reported the graffiti, and the rushed police officer was arrested.

In response to the investigation, Onishi acknowledged the charges and stated that "I wrote immediately because I was inspiring and inspired to create".

According to Ryoanji, Sanmon was built in 1680 and has not been designated as a cultural asset.

Ryoanji commented, “It ’s very regrettable and I do n’t want this to happen in the future.”
