The new educational platform for students and teachers, Lumni, has just been launched. No less than 10,000 educational contents are hosted there, "validated by humans for their educational relevance", as explained at the microphone of Europe 1 Antoine Bayet, director of digital editions of INA.

ON DECRYPT

This is the new educational offer launched by the public broadcaster: Lumni, a reminder of the word "light" and the Latin term "alumni" to say "students", was published last Tuesday. The platform, co-piloted by France Télévisions and INA, France's leading audiovisual archivist, houses 10,000 educational contents that, for example, make it possible to complete children's classes and serve as educational materials for teachers. Public broadcasting companies, strongly encouraged by the government, have been working on this project for no less than three years.

A recommendation work

To find the content of Lumni, there is of course the site Lumni.fr, but also and especially the platforms that young people attend daily, such as YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. But unlike what is happening among American giants, public offer teams highlight a central element of Lumni: the work of recommendation.

"Every content is validated by humans for their educational relevance," says Antoine Bayet, director of digital editions of INA. "One sees for each content the links that it can maintain with the curricula It will be different from YouTube One is convinced that the education is a thing much too serious to be left to the Gafa only.

Pedagogical tracks for teachers

The idea is to use American platforms rather than compete with them to reach young audiences. These young audiences, precisely, are targeted with "a series like The Great Explanation , in 21 episodes of 5 minutes": "Each episode returns to an episode that marked history as the Liberation of Paris, May-68, the Assassination of Kennedy ... One operates a mounting cash and incisive, being inspired by social networks and the production of videos ", explains Antoine Bayet.

For content for teachers, Antoine Bayet takes the example of the question of gender and history. "You are a teacher and you want to talk about the place of women in French society? Lumni offers you a pedagogical track on the place of women in French society since 1945. Everything is contextualized and written to make you want to use the resource in class with the students. "
