At Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Wakaho, Nagano City, the maple is colored with many people.

Kiyomizu-dera was built in 742 C.E. and is a historical temple that houses many of the cultural assets such as the ornament of the helmet that is said to be the oldest in Japan and many Buddha statues.

About 16 years ago, the priests started to develop cedars in the precincts, and the maple began to turn beautifully. Today, more than 200 Japanese maples brilliantly color the precincts.

Among them, the “Momiji Tunnel” that covers the stairs leading to Kannon-do for about 30 meters delights visitors.

However, it was slower than usual, and I was worried about fallen trees due to the influence of Typhoon No.19, but there was little damage and beautiful maples colored the precincts.

Visitors walked around the precincts of the maple and took pictures.

Mr. Akiyasu Miyazawa, a resident of Kiyomizu-dera, said, “It was typhoon damage, but it was good that there was little damage to the maple.

The autumn leaves of Kiyomizu-dera Temple are now in full bloom.
