Country singer-songwriter Sam Hunt, who was arrested on Wednesday for driving under the influence of alcohol, has apologized through social media.

"Thursday night I decided to drive home after drinking a drink with a friend," he writes. "It was a bad and selfish decision and I apologize to everyone I have endangered with my behavior and I am disappointed in it. It will not happen again," the singer writes.

Tests showed that the 34-year-old singer had 0.133 grams of alcohol per 100 milliliters in his blood, well above the applicable limit of 0.08 grams. After paying a deposit of $ 2,500 (about 2,250 euros), he was allowed to leave the police station after a few hours.

Hunt became known in the Netherlands for his song Take Your Time , which was in the Dutch charts in 2015. The singer, nominated for four Grammy Awards, performed in the Melkweg in Amsterdam in March of the same year.
