The employee who was certified as an industrial accident was a male employee in his 40s who worked at a factory in Toyooka City, Hyogo Prefecture, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Melco Power Devices.

According to the attorney of the agent, the man had been working at this factory for about a year and a half until November 2016. However, he developed a mental illness, took a leave of absence and returned to another department in December. I committed suicide.

A man was considered to have worked for a certain amount of time and had a discretionary work system in which wages were paid, but it was that he worked overtime more than 100 hours per month in terms of normal working hours .

For this reason, a family member applied for suicide due to overwork and was recognized as an occupational accident last month by the Labor Standards Inspection Office.

At Mitsubishi Electric, employees with discretionary work were recognized one after another by accidents due to overwork. In March of last year, the discretionary work system was abolished and the group worked on correcting long working hours.

Mitsubishi Electric commented on this occupational accident certification: “We take seriously the death of an employee of an affiliated company. We will continue to work on thorough labor management.”
