A Kuwaiti man's ploy to pass a British driving license test led to his arrest and referral to judicial authorities who convicted him and sentenced him to one year in prison.

The Daily Mail reported that the young Kuwaiti was caught while cheating by putting headphones in his ear so that he could pass the driving test by communicating with someone else to answer questions.

The report, which was quoted by the Kuwaiti newspaper "Al-Qabas", revealed that the young man hid the headphones when caught by the official in charge of the test and refused to deliver them, before being transferred to the judicial authorities and interrogated after confessing to "possession of a headset for use in fraud."

The defense lawyer for the young Kuwaiti showed that the sentence turned from 12 months in prison, to community service for 12 months and 80 hours of work without pay, instead of imprisonment for trying to pass the driving test to get work to support his family.
