The Criminal Court of Sohag City, south of Cairo, referred the papers of an agricultural worker for the second time to the Grand Mufti to take the legal opinion in his execution, after he was convicted of killing a child and slaughtering him with a knife for his disagreements with his family.

The Egyptian Criminal Court had previously sentenced the defendant to death after taking the opinion of Fadil al-Mufti.

The case dates back to 2013, when the Sohag Security Directorate received a notification of the death of the 7-year-old child and found him slaughtered in a remote area of a village in Sohag.

Investigations by the mabahith, in coordination with the General Security Branch, revealed that the 33-year-old agricultural worker lured the victim to a remote area and killed him with a knife, due to disagreements between him and the family of the victim.
