His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, today inaugurated his book “The Legend of Arab Piracy in the Gulf”, in Malayalam in the Al Qasimi Publications Pavilion, as part of the 38th Sharjah International Book Fair. Held under the slogan «Open a book .. Open minds», in conjunction with the selection of Sharjah as the world capital of the book.

The book is a scientific thesis obtained by His Highness Ph.D. from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, and dealt with an important historical period in the history of the Arabian Gulf region, and corrected many false information through honest evidence, referring to the archive of a number of ancient historical libraries in India and Britain, and revealed His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, falsified the historical myth about Arab piracy in the Gulf.

His Highness also witnessed a seminar by writer and novelist Orhan Pamuk, presented and moderated by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Cultural Affairs, Omar Saif Ghobash.

Orhan Pamuk is one of the most important novelists of Turkish literature.He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2006.He presented several literary publications during his career, including: `` My Name is Red, the Museum of Innocence, Istanbul, and Strangeness in My Mind '', and his novels were translated into 63 languages.

Orhan Pamuk began a talk about his literary beginnings, being a member of a well-educated Turkish family, most of whom studied engineering. He studied engineering at the beginning of his university career, but decided to become an artist before turning to writing and literature, explaining that at the beginning of his literary career it was difficult to publish His novels, novel versions were limited in Turkey.

As for the lack of narratives, Pamuk attributed the reasons to the fact that Turkish culture, especially in the Ottoman period, was concerned with poetry and poets. Today, where the novel is accessible to all, and many people are writing and reading novels, and sometimes people escape from their reality to read novels and literature, because they find it outlet.

Bamouk pointed out that writing the novel is a global art and national work, in which the writer transfers his experiences and ideas to the other world, considering that each writer or novelist has a special style distinguishes, and its own individualism, influenced by many societal factors that leave their mark in the style and writer of the narrator .

He noted that writing a novel, especially historical, is not an easy process, but requires research and many interviews, and gather as many information.
