In order to extend the healthy life expectancy of the elderly, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will start a medical checkup from the next fiscal year to check whether it is in a state called “Fail” one step before requiring nursing care.

“Frail” refers to a state one step ahead of the need for nursing care for elderly people whose muscle strength has declined, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare states that improvement from this state is important in order to prevent nursing care. For this reason, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to conduct a health checkup for those over the age of 75 from the next fiscal year to check whether they are in a “frail” state. The health checkup is conducted mainly by the municipalities and asks 15 items related to lifestyle and cognitive functions, such as whether they eat 3 meals a day or when they do not know the date, and strives to grasp their symptoms. .
