She had been sentenced for trying to infiltrate American political circles. Russian "agent" Maria Boutina was released from prison on Friday (October 25th), the US Federal Prison Service announced.

The 30-year-old woman was arrested in July 2018 and sentenced to 18 months in prison last April, more than half of which had been recognized as already serving.

Accused of "conspiracy" to "promote the interests of Russia", Maria Boutina, the only Russian national sentenced in investigations of Moscow's interferences in US domestic politics, had forged links with the National Rifle Association ( NRA). His relationship with the powerful gun lobby allowed him to get in touch with Donald Trump prior to his election, as well as with one of his sons.

Released from Tallahassee Prison, Florida, and handed over to US immigration police, Maria Boutina must be deported to Russia.
