The Ghafa Cultural Festival 2019, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development in Ras Al Khaimah, kicked off yesterday with the participation of a number of federal, government and private entities.

The festival, which was inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Customs Department and Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zones Authority (RAKZ), in the Mina Al Arab tourist area of ​​Ras Al Khaimah, includes a range of cultural, heritage, entertainment and short films to provide a cultural platform for creative and talented people in various fields. To highlight their artistic works, to convey their message to different segments of society, and to support the cultural sector. “The festival is part of the ministry's initiatives in the Year of Tolerance, which carries the highest values ​​that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has embarked upon,” said Moza Al Musafri, Director of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development Center in Ras Al Khaimah. She added that «naming the festival as (Ghafa), came in connection with the slogan this year, because this tree of great importance, as the UAE and Ghafa are inseparable after it became in its high national symbol, because of its close association with the lives of parents and grandparents». She pointed out that the festival is an opportunity to meet the participating creators, who sought to highlight the concept of tolerance, and support programs and cultural and heritage events in Ras Al Khaimah, which was crowned, finally, the title of the Gulf Tourism Capital; thanks to its potential to qualify as a tourist, entertainment and cultural destination.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi also inaugurated the Art Exhibition, which includes works that express the values ​​of tolerance in the UAE and reflect a culture of peace, love and coexistence between different cultures in the UAE.
