Artificial glaciers, known as the "ice stupa", are rising in the Ladakh Desert in the northern Indian state of Jammu to solve the water shortage in the region.
Local people in the area, which means "high traffic land", depend on melting snow and ice to irrigate their arable land and provide fresh drinking water.
