The 11th Abu Dhabi Art Exhibition will be held in Manarat Al Saadiyat on November 21st with the participation of 49 leading galleries from 21 cities from around the world.

The course, which will run until November 24, will see the launch of new sections alongside the existing spaces, including New Dimensions: China Today, which highlights contemporary Chinese arts, and New Dimensions: India, which focuses on modern India. Non-participating showrooms will have the opportunity to apply for the Special Projects section, which is open to all showrooms.

New scene

The New Dimensions: China Today section, supervised by international art curator Jerome Sans, highlights nine galleries that showcase works by the most important contemporary Chinese artists.

The artists chosen by Sans will present a new scene of contemporary Chinese art, representing the vocabulary of richness and diversity in their expressive works that translate their view of today's world. Most of these artists have gained international attention in recent years. Jerome Sans said: “The New Dimensions Section: China Today highlights the work of 10 Chinese artists (Li Cheng, Li Shurui, Liu Wei, Lu Zhao, Qiu Zigi, Sun Yuan, Peng Yu, Xu Zhu, Xu Zen and Zhao Zao. "They were born in the seventies and eighties of the last century, and succeeded in creating contemporary artistic vocabulary to address the global artistic audience." Art Abu Dhabi 2019 also houses the 'New Dimensions: India' section, curated by Ashwin Thadani, which highlights Indian galleries, most of which come to Abu Dhabi for the first time.
