Since the failed coup of 2016 against President Erdogan, the Turkish administration has cleaned up. She dismissed suspected opponents of the regime as journalists, police officers, judges or intellectuals. Thousands of academics have been fired, including some for signing a petition against the government's ongoing war policy in the country's Kurdish region.
