"We have very good news about Turkey". On Twitter, Donald Trump praised the agreement reached on Thursday (October 17th) between his Vice President Mike Pence with Ankara, which provides for a temporary ceasefire from Turkey in northeastern Syria. Turkey has confirmed the suspensio of the offensive in Syria.

At a press conference after a four-hour meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Mike Pence said the Turkish army would suspend its operations for the withdrawal of Kurdish forces in the region. The United States has already begun to secure the withdrawal, he added.

The Turkish offensive "will stop completely when this withdrawal is over," added Mike Pence. The agreement also provides for Turkey to refrain from any military operation in the Syrian city of Kobane.

US President Donald Trump thanked President Erdogan on Twitter, saying the deal would "save millions of lives."
