EL MUNDO reaffirms its leadership among the media in Spain. With 21,162,000 unique users , the general newspaper of Unidad Editorial extends its advantage over 'El País' in September, according to data from the Comscore MMx Multiplatform report.

It is the third consecutive month in which EL MUNDO is leader of the media ranking in Spain. And every month with a greater advantage over its competitors. In September, the gap with respect to Prisa's newspaper widened to 1,264,000 unique users, counting 'El País' 19,898,000 readers.

As a percentage, the EL MUNDO figure represents a growth of 5.2% with respect to the previous month (7% with respect to September of the previous year), a figure much higher than the sector average.

'La Vanguardia' occupies the third place in this ranking, considered the market standard, only 74,000 users of 'El País', but 1.3 million of the leadership. 'ABC' is fourth with 18.5 million, already more than two and a half million from EL MUNDO.

The upward trend of EL MUNDO has been maintained since last March launched the redesign of its digital version and at a crucial time for the media. The leadership of this newspaper is maintained not only in the section of unique users, but also occupies the first position in variables such as Page Views (Total Views), fundamental for the advertising business. THE WORLD records 419 million here, well ahead of 'El País' (356 million), 'La Vanguardia' (269) and 'ABC' (268).

Leader also in Visits

If the advertising business has been the fundamental axis so far for the media, the payment for content seems the future bound. And in the face of this step, there is another fundamental metric to understand the loyalty of users with the environment: the ranking of Visits, which relativizes the impact of users who fall only once in the header by search engines or social networks. And there, EL MUNDO's leadership is much broader. In September it registered 197,275,000 visits, 20 million more than El País (177 million) and 72 million more than 'ABC' , which is third in this category with 125 million. 'La Vanguardia' falls to fourth place in this section, with just 106 million visits, almost half of those accumulated by EL MUNDO.

The results of the September Comscore report also show leadership among the sports media of Marca, the sports newspaper of Unidad Editorial, with 16,750,000 unique users, 3.8 million ahead of 'As'.
