• Cold drop.Devastation emerges in Alicante and Murcia with the passage of DANA

The Civil Protection Service of the Civil Guard (Seprona) has taken samples of the thousands of fish found dead this Saturday on the beaches of San Pedro del Pinatar, in the Mar Menor, possibly due to the effects of the cold drop of a month, to be analyzed.

The emergency service of San Pedro del Pinatar had warned this Saturday of the appearance of thousands of dead fish and crustaceans in the area of Villananitos, La Mota and La Puntica , a month after the episode of cold drop that ravaged the area.

The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment of Murcia, Antonio Luengo, visited the area late yesterday and said that the episode of cold drop was the possible cause of the death of the fish.

Luengo described as "catastrophic" the consequences of the cold drop for the Mar Menor and this appearance of dead fish is an example, so he urged the Ministry for Ecological Transition to carry out urgent measures such as the decrease in the level from the Albujón aquifer that pours fresh water into the lagoon.

The regional president, Fernando López Miras, stated on the social network Twitter that it was evident that "alone we can do nothing in the face of this problem, we need to unite more than ever to save our Mar Menor."

The parliamentary group of Vox announced this Sunday that it will register tomorrow in the Regional Assembly a request to appear in full of the Minister of Water and Environment, Antonio Luengo, to explain the causes that have resulted in the death of thousands of fish.
