The murder pod is done by journalists Linnéa Bohlin and Amanda Karlsson and according to pod index has over 250,000 listenings every week. It is their section of the Dentist Assassination of July 2017 that has been reported to the police by author Lars Ohlson for copyright infringement. He believes that the section largely plagues his book Kagelugnmordenet from 2016, and in the police report he reports 80 points where the podcast where according to him the program managers present information from the book, read paragraphs and sentences and use his analyzes.

- I did not know about the Murderpodden at all, but then I listened and thought "My God, that is Kakelovn murder right up and down!", Says Lars Ohlson.

Planned verbatim in several places

Lars Ohlson contacted Mordpodden directly with a proposal for a settlement, where he demanded, among other things, that Mordpodden should replace him with SEK 30,000, and that they should also state that the section is based on his book.

Linnéa Bohlin and Amanda Karlsson, who make the Mordpodden, cite the book Kakelugnmordet as one of several sources in the section, but Lars Ohlsson does not think it is enough. He believes that they present the story as their own and that they use his analyzes and conclusions as if they were their own.

- They have also taken all my dramaturgy and my arrangement. In addition, they have also planned verbatim in several places, says Lars Ohlson.

Tired and police report

In an e-mail exchange between Lars Ohlson and Mordpodden, which the Cultural News has taken note of, it appears that Amanda Karlsson and Linnéa Bohlin are taking bad care of the criticism. "That you think that we have plagiarized your work makes us feel worse than you can imagine," they write. They also remove the section with immediate effect.

After a long email exchange, Linnéa Bohlin and Amanda Karlsson send an agreement where they offer Lars Ohlson SEK 30,000. But the agreement also contains points where Lars Ohlson undertakes not to disclose anything about the agreement for all future, and that if he signs the agreement also becomes legally responsible for the content of the section.

- They wrote that they had cried over my accusations. Then they engaged lawyers. And then I got tired and the police report instead, says Lars Ohlson.

The lawyer who takes over the correspondence from Mordpodden's side writes that Linnéa Bohlin and Amanda Karlsson disputes Lars's claims and that their legal assessment is that there is no violation of the Copyright Act. But they also write that the previous settlement remains if no police report is made.

Lars Ohlson does not sign the agreement, but instead reports the Mordpodden for a violation of the Copyright Act for literary and artistic works.

"The whole situation is extremely sad"

The preliminary investigation was initiated in December 2017, and the preliminary investigator states that notification of prosecution is coming soon.

The creators of Mordpodden do not want to be interviewed by the Culture News. Amanda Karlsson, the one journalist behind Mordpodden writes in an e-mail to the Culture News that they think the whole plagiarism situation is "extremely sad and it has affected us extremely personally" and that they are always accurate with source references, even in this case.

“It is obviously a balancing act to write about enough, but not so much that the course of events itself changes. We have acted in a way that we hope and believe is right and right. ”, Amanda Karlsson writes in the email.

Distributor Bauer Media does not want to post an interview with the Culture News, but writes in an email that they and Mordpodden made "a joint decision to immediately unpublish the section" when reached by Lars Ohlson's criticism.
