The world celebrates World Coffee Day on October 1 each year, in an event that officially began in 2015, on the sidelines of the Expo in Milan, according to the World Coffee Organization.

Yet another account suggests that World Coffee Day began in 1983 in Japan.

The day was launched to promote the coffee trade and raise awareness about the plight of coffee farms, the conditions of their cultivation, their workers and wages.
