Consumption tax Mistake in setting up Osaka Metro ticket vending machine

Osaka Metro, which raised the fare for some sectors due to the increase in the consumption tax rate, had a problem with the system settings of the ticket vending machines, making it impossible to issue tickets temporarily at the ticket machines at 25 stations.

According to Osaka Metro, there were troubles at 25 stations on 8 lines, including Namba Station on the Midosuji Line and Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome Station on the Tanimachi Line.

Osaka Metro has renovated the ticket machine system to raise the price in some sections in line with the increase in the consumption tax rate from the first day.

However, due to a mistake on the part of the manufacturer, we forgot to set it to automatically switch to the new system after 3 am, which means that it was not possible to issue tickets at some ticket machines from the beginning. .

Some passengers could not buy tickets, got a boarding certificate from the station staff, and settled at the station where they got off.

All troubled ticket machines were restored after 7am.

Osaka Metro said, “I am sorry for the inconvenience to our customers. I will try to prevent this from happening in the future.”
