The Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi witnessed yesterday the UAE premiere of the Sufi versus modern music concert at New York University Abu Dhabi, the only Arab Grammy Award winner and the BBC's Fathi Salama. The famous Egyptian mystic Sheikh Mahmoud Tohamy, along with the band «Zanzibar Tarab and Kedumbak» of «Academy of Dow countries music».

The show was held on the stage of the Red Theater under the artistic coordination of Bill Bragin, Artistic Director of the Arts Center, in collaboration with the Music Program at New York University Abu Dhabi, and supported by the initiative «Albarda» launched by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development to support contemporary Islamic culture and arts. The evening to explore the Arab and Islamic voices on the African continent from Egypt to Zanzibar, where the Sufi versus modern trend combined the sounds and rhythms of traditional Sufi songs and modern jazz tones in a unique harmony of Arabic voices, while A presentation by Zanzibar Tarab and Kedumbak showcased the diverse styles of musical culture from the western Indian Ocean and the Afro-Arab composition of Tarab music.
