Russia is rebuilding a second runway to allow its Hmeimim air base in Syria to serve more planes, Russian news agencies quoted an unnamed defense ministry official as saying on Tuesday.
The ministry is also building new facilities to be aircraft hangars at the base to counter drone attacks, the agencies quoted the official as saying.
The official pointed out that 30 fighter jets and helicopters are currently in that air base.
