Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a phone call from US Defense Secretary Mark Esper, the official SPA news agency reported.

During the call, the US Defense Secretary affirmed his country's full support to the Kingdom in its stance towards the recent attacks on two oil plants in Abqaiq and Khurais.

He praised the role of the Kingdom in supporting international efforts to address the Iranian threat in the threat of maritime navigation.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said Iranian threats were not only directed against the kingdom, but also affected the Middle East and the world.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Twitter that he had spoken to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about the latest attack on Aramco's two oil facilities.

"We are working with our partners to defend the rules of the global system that Iran is trying to undermine," he tweeted.

"We are working with our partners to deal with the unprecedented Aramco attack."

He wrote that he had attended a White House meeting shortly before to assess the situation with President Donald Trump, who said on Sunday he was "ready to respond" to those responsible for the attacks.
