Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's first post-independence leader, has died at the age of 95, the BBC reported, quoting his family.

It is reported that Mugabe died after a conflict with the disease, in Singapore, where he was receiving treatment.

Mugabe was ousted from power after a military coup in November 2017, ending his three-decade rule.

Born in 1924 in a poor family, Mugabe completed his university studies as a teacher at the beginning of his life and was imprisoned for his anti-apartheid activism at the time.

Mugabe served as prime minister after Zanu's party won elections in 1980-87, where he was unchallenged as president until 2017.
