Qinghai Province in northwest China, located on the Shanghai Plateau, has opened Tibet, known as the "roof of the world" - the world's highest water basin to visitors.
The new 2,261-meter-high basin is located in the provincial capital Xining, the world's first 28,000-square-meter "roof of the world" basin, Xinhua news agency said.
The first day of its opening attracted more than 8,000 visitors, the Aquarium Department said, adding that the aquarium has more than 30,000 aquatic animals for more than 400 species and more than 300 wild animals for more than 100 species, including some rare marine animals such as White whales and dolphins nasal flask.
