The motivation states that he is rewarded with the award "for his intense renewal of the field between novel and autobiography" and for "like Andersen before him, placing Scandinavia on the literary world map".

Placed Scandinavia on the literary world map, Karl Ove Knausgård made his six-band long autobiographical novel "My fight", which was published in Swedish 2010-2013.

Current with a new book this fall

Earlier this year, Karl Ove Knausgård received the Swedish Academy Award. He is up to date with his new book "The Birds Under the Sky" which will be released in Swedish in September.

The Norwegian will be the first Nordic author to be awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Prize. The award has previously been awarded to, among others, JK Rowling and Haruki Murakami.
