The Sheikh Zayed Book Award has announced the opening of its 14 th session for the period 2019-2020, until the first of next October.

The award was honored at a recent ceremony held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and HH Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council , Which honored the winners.

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award has received 1500 nominations from around the world. This year, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award will continue its mission to recognize and honor thinkers, researchers, innovators, interpreters and cultural development workers, and to provide more support to cultural institutions and publishing houses across the various branches of the Award.

The Secretary-General of the Award, Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, stressed the need to continue to strive to continue the award in its excellence and active presence, pointing to the important cultural role played by the award in the service of Arab culture at the global level, through its openness to studies written in living languages, pointing out what Awarded by the award of the mechanisms of accurate and transparent made it at the forefront of Arab awards.

Nominations are required to be published in the past two years, and have not been previously recognized as outstanding international awards. The work should be written in Arabic, with the exception of the candidates nominated for the translation branch (translated from or to Arabic) and the nominated works for the category "Arabic culture in other languages", which will receive works in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish.

For the "Personality of the Year" award, candidates must be nominated by academic, research or cultural institutions, literary associations and universities, or three eminent persons in the intellectual and cultural field. The prize in its last edition honored the winners in seven categories, including Moroccan writer and novelist Bensalem Hamish, winner of the award, Kuwaiti author Hussein Al Mutawa, winner of the Child and Young Literature Award, and Algerian researcher Abdel Razzaq Belaqrouz, winner of the Young Author Award. While the researcher Dr. Charbel Dagher of Lebanon won the prize for arts and monetary studies.

The British academic and researcher Philip F. Kennedy won the Arab Culture Award in other languages, while the Arab Center for Geographical Literature won the prize for publication and cultural techniques. Professor Jaroslav Stitkevich and Professor Susan Stitkevich won the Cultural Personality of the Year award.
