The trucks carrying parts necessary for the manufacture of Peugeot 308 and 3008 were blocked by dams related to the movement of the yellow vests. On Wednesday, the manufacturer's Sochaux plant had to be shut down. Nearly 900 cars could not be produced.

PSA plant Sochaux (Doubs) was stopped Wednesday afternoon due to blockages of some parts in southwestern France by dams set up by yellow vests, have we learned with management.

The assembly lines of the Opel Peugeot 308, 3008 and Grandland were completely shut down as they could not be supplied in parts from suppliers based in Spain, the management said.

Several pieces needed blocked

Trucks carrying these parts were blocked by dams "between Bordeaux and Guéret," said a spokesman for the site. According to the management, these are parts for shoes and batteries. Shocks are also affected, according to FO.

In total, 900 vehicles were not produced Wednesday afternoon and 1,600 employees were in forced arrest, the spokesman added.

The Sochaux factory had chartered a plane to deliver parts, which allowed it to have a normal activity on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, but the number of missing parts became too important to continue producing Wednesday afternoon said the management.

Back to normal tonight

The situation would be able to return to normal Wednesday night. Parts of suppliers from Spain arrived in sufficient numbers during the day to ensure the productions scheduled for the night from Wednesday to Thursday, said a spokesman for the site.

The site of Sochaux itself, however, is not blocked at its entrances by the yellow vests, pointed the direction.
