UN Secretary-General called 2018 the most negative for climate
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that 2018 was the most negative from the point of view of climate change in the entire history of observations.
“2018 has broken all records for negative indicators. It became the fourth warmest year in the history of observations, ”TASS quotes him.
According to Guterres, last year all regions of the world were subjected to climatic destabilization. In particular, he mentioned devastating typhoons in the Philippines and southern China, as well as extreme drought in Argentina and South Africa.
The Secretary General called for global entities to prevent further devastating effects. So, by 2030 it is necessary to reduce the level of harmful emissions into the atmosphere by 45% from 2010 figures, and by 2050 it is necessary to reach zero emissions.
