In a fire in an assisted living facility in Sonneberg, Thuringia, 27 people were injured. According to police broke out on Saturday shortly after 23 clock from a fire with heavy smoke in the boiler room.

Many of the approximately 40 residents had to be rescued from the building with the help of the fire brigade. 23 of them were slightly injured, four were seriously injured and hospitalized. The building is uninhabitable until further notice.

The total damage is according to the police against one million euros. The facility is home to both seniors and people with disabilities.
