A playwright and actress Alla Sokolova died at the age of 74 in St. Petersburg. She was the author of several well-known plays, including “Who is this Dizzy Gillespie?”, “Eldorado” and “The House Is Half My”. A major success came to Sokolova after the release of Fantasy Faryatev. The work was staged in Sovremennik and the Central Theater of the Soviet Army, and in 1979 Ilya Averbakh shot the same film with Andrei Mironov and Marina Neyolova in the lead roles. As an actress, Sokolov appeared on the scenes of the Riga Theater of Russian Drama and the Leninsky Komsomol Theater. In 1989, she played in Svetlana Proskurina’s The Accidental Waltz and won a prize for the best female role at the international festival in Marseille.
