Soundman Gregg Rudloff of The Matrix and Mad Max died
Sound artist Gregg Rudloff, who became known for his work for hit films such as The Matrix, Argo and The Perfect Storm, passed away at the age of 63.
Sound artist Gregg Rudloff, who became known for his work for hit films such as The Matrix , Argo and The Perfect Storm , passed away at the age of 63.
The sound mixer has been working on more than two hundred Hollywood films over the past 30 years. He won three Oscars in his life, for Glory (1989), The Matrix (1999) and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). In total he was nominated seven times.
Rudloff died Sunday in a hospital in Los Angeles, writes The Hollywood Reporter . He would have been hospitalized here after a suicide attempt.
The last film that Rudloff worked on was The Other Side of the Wind , the latest film by director Orson Welles. The material that Welles had made just before his death was, in the past year, commissioned by the Netflix streaming service to be made into a feature film.
Soundmixer worked together with Clint Eastwood ten times
"It's not so much about what I did, but more about who I was allowed to do together", Rudloff once said in an interview.
The sound mixer was a regular member of Clint Eastwood: the duo had been working together ten times since 1982, including the films Invictus , J. Edgar and Jersey Boys .
The sound man also made many films with director Rob Reiner, such as the classics This is Spinal Tap (1982), Stand by me (1986) and The Princess Bride (1987).
