The attackers on a cash transporter in Berlin, according to the latest findings, apparently went out empty-handed. As the police said on Sunday, the robbers had lost some of their prey at the scene and left the rest in their parked escort car.

That would certainly have resulted in the recent investigation, it said. In addition, the police found own information that night on Sunday, the second getaway car.

Several masked and armed offenders had stopped on Friday morning near the Alexanderplatz a money-carrier and captured several money boxes. On their run, they shot at a police car that was following them and made several accidents. Nobody got hurt. The amount of prey is unknown.

Raid on a cash transporter: in the middle of Berlin

The perpetrators had wedged the cashier with two cars and brought him to stop. They threatened the inmates with weapons and broke open the transporter's rear doors. With their loot they fled in two cars through the rush hour.

In the shots on the following police patrol their car was hit in the front area. The officials broke off the persecution. The perpetrators were damaged after several accidents one of their escape car and fled together with the second car.

A murder commission of the Kriminalpolizei took over the investigations because of the shots on the officials, beside it determined a specialized commission of the state criminal investigation office.

For many years, various perpetrator gangs in Berlin repeatedly commit well-organized attacks and burglaries: for example, the coup of KaDeWe in January 2009. In December 2013, three armed and masked men raided a cash transporter on Tauentzienstraße and captured a six-figure sum. Most recently, in March 2017, the burglary into the Bode Museum (paid) caused a stir with the theft of the huge gold coin.
