The Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) launched Wednesday on its website a new reporting portal for whistleblowers.

The Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) announced Wednesday the opening on its site of a new reporting portal for whistleblowers.

It must allow "a direct link between the ASN and a person wishing to alert him about elements of which it is aware and which may present risks for people or the environment." The nuclear policeman also promises "the strict confidentiality of the elements transmitted .

The idea of allowing whistleblowers to transmit information in this way had sprouted after the discovery of irregularities in the manufacture of components of the Creusot Forge plant, then in the hands of Areva. This scandal led ASN to tighten its anti-fraud vigilance with a series of measures.

Report irregularities

ASN cites examples of practices that may be reported to it: "the falsification of documents or results of measurements, the implementation of practices that do not comply with the rules of art" .

Its expertise is not limited to EDF nuclear power plants or factories manufacturing components for these facilities.

ASN thus seeks "reports of irregularities encountered in nuclear installations and in activities presenting a risk linked to ionizing radiation, such as the transport of radioactive substances and certain medical or industrial practices" .
