Miss Philippines, 24-year-old Katrina Gray, crowned the Miss Universe of 2018 in a competition hosted by Bangkok today.

Gray, a Filipino-Australian, is a television host, singer and fashion model.

She learned to be grateful and "looking for beauty" while teaching disadvantaged children in slums in Manila when Steve Harvey, the host of the concert, asked her about the most important lesson in her life.

South Africa's 24-year-old Tamarin Green earned the title of first runner-up while Venezuelan Stefani Gutierrez, 19, was second runner-up.

Before the winners were announced, the top 10 contestants competed for the title, from South Africa, Vietnam, Venezuela, the Philippines, Costa Rica, Curacao, Nepal, Canada, Thailand and Puerto Rico.

For the third time, Bangkok hosted the 67th edition of the competition, the last time the Thai capital hosted the competition in 2005 when Canadian-Russian-born Natalie Glebova won the title.
