Raid in Lübtheen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Dozens of police searched the winter quarters of a circus in search of a weapon. According to the Schwerin prosecutor's office, a 27-year-old member of the circus family is suspected of shooting a relative with a small-bore pistol in the leg.

The crime occurred in late May 2018 in the district of Ludwigslust-Parchim. A 47-year-old circus member was shot in the leg and his brother was taken to a hospital. However, neither the victim nor his family members nor the staff of the circus would later comment on the case to the police.

According to the prosecutors, the investigators were now told by a witness that the alleged murder weapon could be found on the grounds of the circus, where 37 residents are registered. The search of the approximately 8000 square meters of land with many sidecars and caravans was closed at noon, according to police - but without success. The searched weapon could not be found.

For some time now, the criminal investigation department has assumed that the alleged shooter comes from the victim's private sphere. The 27-year-old suspect is being investigated for dangerous bodily harm and unauthorized possession of weapons.
