A school, close to two buildings that collapsed on November 5 in Marseille, decided to close as precaution from Monday its playground and calls for emergency expertise of its building, fearing fragilities.

The Cours Julien school, whose façade overlooks 119, rue d'Aubagne, is located 150 meters from the two dilapidated buildings that collapsed on November 5 in Marseille, killing eight people.

In a message to parents of students that AFP was able to consult, the school management notes "concerns about the safety of students, teachers and municipal staff" and takes "the precautionary measure to no longer welcome students in the courtyard . The school will be closed from Monday.

For their part, parents call to gather Monday and Tuesday morning to demand immediate expertise "reliable and transparent" .

Questioned by AFP, the town hall explained that it had "taken into account" the school's request and explained that "experts will make a diagnosis" .

A damp and damaged ceiling

The courtyard and the back of the school are based on an "unhealthy" local , explained the president of the association of parents, Camille Giraud-Ba, who was able to take pictures of its ceiling, wet and damaged. The floor of the yard has already collapsed in 2012, cracks were found and tiles broke.

Throughout Marseille, reports of threatening buildings follow one another since November 5, resulting in evacuations. A total of 1,010 people were evacuated as a precaution from their homes, in 106 buildings that became ghosts.
