The draft law on bioethics, which includes the extension of medically assisted procreation (ART) to all women, will not be considered in Parliament until "May or June". This is what the rapporteur of the information mission to the Assembly said on Thursday afternoon.

"There is a gap of four and a half or five months because of the clutter of the parliamentary calendar . " Jean-Louis Touraine, rapporteur of the information mission on bioethics, he justified this Thursday afternoon postponement of the draft law on bioethics, which includes the extension of procreation medically assisted ( PMA) to all women. This text will not be considered until May or June .

A government source also said that the text, which causes tensions within the majority group, "will not be examined in the first half" , counting on a review "at the earliest" in June or July.

Expected report of the calendar

Initially, the government announced that it would introduce the bioethics bill before the end of the year for a parliamentary debate in the first quarter of 2019.

Jean-Louis Touraine had already reported in recent days an expected postponement of the calendar, citing two hypotheses for his presentation in the Council of Ministers in January-February or May, knowing that the Council of Ministers should be stalled shortly before consideration in the Assembly.

The PMA is today allowed for couples of different sexually infertile. The majority intends to open it to women couples, as well as to singles, in accordance with candidate Macron's campaign commitments.
