Heavy rains have led to landslides and floods on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, with at least six deaths. Several people were still missing in Gowa, a particularly heavily hit district in the south of the island, a provincial government spokesman said.

The two-day rains have led to chaos in several areas of Gowa. More than 2100 people had to leave their homes.

Landslides and floods are common during the rainy season in Indonesia. The monsoon lasts in most regions of the island nation from about November to March.
