Three young Chinese students lost in the mountains of Haute-Savoie were rescued thanks to a phone number engraved on a tree on Monday. The hikers dialed the number belonging to a hunter in the area who notified the rescue. A squad of gendarmerie found them in the evening.

Why did he put his phone number there? History does not say it, but this hunter of Haute-Savoie finally saved the life of three girls by engraving his number on this tree in the mountains. On Monday, October 29, three Chinese girls were lost during a hike in the mountains of the Prealps.

The three friends, on vacation in Geneva (Switzerland), did not manage to find their way after briefly leaving the marked trail. Around 5 pm, worried, they decided to seek help. So they called the unknown phone number they had just spotted, engraved on a tree, reports Dauphine .

Found by the gendarmes

At the end of the line, a hunter answered them. We do not know why he had registered his contact on this tree, but the man immediately relayed the call of the girls, students in Lille, to the emergency services.

The fog being too thick to send a helicopter, a platoon of high mountain gendarmerie (PGHM) embarked on ground searches. The three lost hikers were finally found safe and sound around 10 pm
