Eutelsat will replace three of these television satellites. For this purpose, he has just signed a contract with Airbus on Monday.
French satellite operator Eutelsat confirmed Monday the order for two television satellites to Airbus Defense & Space, a subsidiary of the aerospace group Airbus. The contract is valued at 500 million euros, according to Le Figaro .
The signing took place in London, on the premises of the UK Department of Enterprise, Energy and Industrial Strategy, a statement from Eutelsat said.
These 4.5-tonne satellites are intended to replace, starting in 2022, the three Hot-Bird television satellites serving Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
This is a first commercial success for the new range of Airbus DS telecom satellites developed on the Eurostar Neo platform.
