Emirates Air Cargo moved its first piano machine to Australia from Edith Cowan University in Perth to London via Dubai during a 21-hour journey. The machine was transported on a historic trip with five other pianos, including 3 rare machines manufactured in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Frederic Beck's first piano machine in Australia was flown to Sydney on HMS Sirius, one of the first 11 ships to arrive from England to Australia after an 8-month flight.

The six machines were packaged in specially designed insulating casings with temperature and motion sensors.

The cargo was placed in a cargo hold on an Emirates A380 plane to be transported from Perth to Dubai. Upon arrival in Dubai, the machines were loaded onto a flight to London.

The six piano instruments will be presented at a concert in Australia House tomorrow and the oldest historical instrument will be re-transferred before being transferred to the Western Academy of Dramatic Arts at Edith Cowan University, where it will continue to inspire future generations of musicians and students.

Rafichenker Merle, UAE Vice President for Shipping for the Far East, Australia and New Zealand, said Emirates is making connections between people and economies.
