Drinking and showering prohibited: tap water contaminated in Heidelberg
Citizens had noticed in the morning an unusual blue color: In parts of Heidelberg, the tap water is contaminated. Currently, analyzes are being conducted to determine which substance is involved.
The district administration Rhein-Neckar-Kreis has warned on Thursday before contaminated drinking water. Affected are the Heidelberg districts Neuenheim and Handschuhsheim and Heidelberg's neighboring community Dossenheim, it says in a statement.
It is being scrutinized whether the problem exists in other parts of the city, according to the authority. Despite the probable local restriction, drinking water should not be used throughout the city .

Residents are urged not to drink the water and to use it neither for washing hands nor for showering. The toilet flush, however, is no problem. Several citizens had reported in the morning a blue color of the water.
